Sydney’s longest running homegrown poker tournament is returning to The Star Sydney in July 2020.

The series - kicking off on Tuesday, 21 July and running through to Monday, 10 August 2020, will be headlined by the $3,000 ($2,800 + $200) Main Event, bringing with it a massive $1.5 Million guarantee!

APL tournaments operating under these conditions will be known as 'COVID Aware' and are designed to enhance the safety of the poker playing environment for players, tournament directors and venue staff. All tournament directors must undertake COVID Safe Training offered by the various TAFEs or state governments. The Tournament of Champions is a new addition to the Australian Poker Tour for Season 3/4. Any player, during season 3/4, who wins an event as an individual will qualify for the Tournament of Champions that will be held in Brisbane at our season Finale. There will be a total prize pool of $25,000 and the winner is guaranteed $10,000 cash!

The following tournament guidelines are mandatory operating practices that all APL representatives around the country have agreed to implement. APL tournaments operating under these conditions will be known as 'COVID Aware' and are designed to enhance the safety of the poker playing environment for players, tournament directors and venue staff.

Apl Poker Qld State Championships Results

  1. All tournament directors must undertake COVID Safe Training offered by the various TAFEs or state governments.
  2. All tournaments will be conducted in venues following each state's room allowance guidelines.
  3. All tables will operate with a maximum of 6 players instead of the usual 8-10 players.
  4. Tables are to be located around the room with as much distance between them as space allows for.
  5. Safe hygiene practices and expectations will be on display at the registration table. WASH; SANITIZE; COVER; DISPOSE; AVOID; STAY CLEAR.
  6. All players will be asked at registration if they have experienced any cold like symptoms in the previous 7 days. If the player responds in the affirmative they will be asked to leave the venue.
  7. If the player is displaying any visible signs of illness such as coughing or runny nose they will be asked to leave the tournament and the venue. A refund will not be offered if the event has already commenced.
  8. Hand Sanitizer will be made available at registration and players asked to use it prior to participating in the tournament and once they exit the event.
  9. Disposable gloves will be made available at registration for those who wish to wear them.
  10. Players will be asked if they have downloaded the COVID Safe Government App at registration.
  11. All TD's must remind players of their hygiene obligations before the event and before breaks.
  12. All chips and cards are to be sprayed with an anti-bacterial solution before and after each event.
  13. Playing cards will be rotated out and cleaned after each tournament so a fresh, clean deck is available at the commencement of each event.
  14. All players and the tournament director will be required to sanitize their hands prior to the commencement of the final table.
  15. The APL Code of Conduct has been updated to reflect these measures and ensure that no player has the right to discriminate against another player for their right to wear a fact mask at events.
